Today my friend and I stopped in for lunch, and I wanted to try one of their seasonal margaritas. I’m 21 and I look a little younger so I pulled out my ID when I told our waitress what I wanted. But then she went on to card my friend, for my drink! My friend told her she was 20 and not drinking, obviously. So then the waitress refused to serve me even though I’m of age.
Me and my boyfriend come here a couple times a year. We went for our 6 month anniversary and I ordered a pasta and he ordered the stir fry. We also got boneless chicken wings as an appetizer. Our food sat in the window for a long time the plate was very hot and the food looked old. Our server was nice but we saw her maybe twice and had to ask other servers for what we needed. We went again a couple months later and we got our food quick and our server was very nice. The steak I ordered was very fatty. We got nachos as an appetizer and they were very good.
I felt insulted because I know if I was 15 years older she wouldn’t of done that. My friend and I aren’t a couple of irresponsible idiots that was going to the Applebee’s planning on getting drunk by me sneaking her alcohol, which is completely idiotic thing to do in a public place! We just wanted to have a nice lunch with each other. But I felt like our waitress instantly assumed we were based on our age. I used to stop at this restaurant whenever I could but I’ll never come here again.
I’m not somebody to complain even when my order is wrong, or even when a waiter is rude. But this really took me aback, and I thought it was pretty demeaning.
If you're traveling along the highway it's a 'safe' choice as sit downs go if you don't like fast food but also don't want to roll the dice on the nearby Mexican place. Service was great and the waitress was patient with my picky friend who liked to do a lot off substitutions. She also refilled my club soda without me asking. food was okay as standard American fare go.
Another gem of an Applebee's! Stopped in on 10/12/17 and again on 10/16/17 while traveling. Our draw was Justi the bartender. First and second time there she made us feel like family. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional in every way...and a great sense of humor. We'll stop in every time we travel through Clarion.
Friendly Waitress, good food and drinks! Stopped into Applebees for a late dinner while on the road. Great choice! Mindy V was an absolute gem of a waitress who made our stay memorable. The 3 of us traveling cross country heading home to NJ-NY and CT were treated like kings!
There’s no law in the state of Pennsylvania that’s states you can’t serve somebody of age if they are with somebody who isn’t. You can refuse service if somebody appears intoxicated, which I was not. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to make a scene but now I’m regretting that I didn’t.
